To back up a data file manually to disk
- In Quicken, choose File → Save a Backup.
- Select the location for the backup copy of your data file, and then click Save.
- Quicken copies the file to the backup location with a file extension of .quickenbackup.
To back up a data file automatically to disk
Automatic backup is on by default but can be turned off in Preferences. Quicken will save a backup every time the application is quit. By default, the 5 newest files are kept.
- In Quicken, choose Quicken → Preferences.
- On the General tab, automatic backup can be turned on or off by checking or unchecking the checkbox.
- Quicken saves the automatic backup files in an Automatic Backups folder. Change the default location using Backup Folder.
Restore a backup
- From the Quicken menu, choose File > Restore from Backup.
- Select the data file you wish to restore, and then click Choose.
- Confirm the file you have selected in the window that pops up and click Restore this File...
- Select the location to which to restore the data file, and then click Save.
