Back up my Quicken data file to my computer or to an external source

  1. Insert or attach the external media you want to back up your Quicken data file to.
  2. If it isn't already open, open the data file you want to back up.
  3. Choose File menu > Backup and Restore > Back up Quicken File.
  4. Select Back up on my computer.
  5. Click Change to identify the location where you want to put your backup.
  6. Click Back up Now to start the backup.
  7. Click OK when Quicken tells you it has backed up the file successfully.
  8. Remove the backup media and store it in a safe place.
  9. To create a second backup copy, repeat steps 1 through 8.
  10. To view the data you just backed up, restore it.

If you haven't signed up yet


  1. If it isn't already open, open the data file that you want to back up.
  2. Choose File menu > Backup and Restore > Back up Quicken File.
  3. Click Learn more in the bottom left corner of the dialog to learn about plan details, options, and prices.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to sign up.

After you sign up


  1. If it isn't already open, open the data file you want to back up.
  2. Choose File menu > Backup and Restore > Back up Quicken File.
  3. Click Use Quicken Online Backup.
  4. Click Back up Now to start the backup.
  5. After Quicken tells you the backup is complete, click OK.
  6. To view the data you just backed up, restore it.
