  1. Insert or attach the external media you want to back up your Quicken data file to.
  2. If it isn't already open, open the data file you want to back up.
  3. Choose File menu > Backup and Restore > Back up Quicken File.
  4. Select Back up on my computer.
  5. Click Change to identify the location where you want to put your backup.
  6. Click Back up Now Type Ctrl + B. The Quicken Backup screen will appear.

    You can also navigate here by selecting File menu → Copy or Backup File, then selecting Create a complete backup and Next.

  7. To identify the location you want to save the file to, select Change and navigate to the appropriate media and directory.
  8. Click Save Backup to start the backup.
  9. Click OK when Quicken tells you it has backed up the file successfully.
  10. Remove the backup media and store it in a safe place.
  11. To create a second backup copy, repeat steps 1 through 8.
  12. To view the data you just backed up, restore it.
